Question:

What are the miracles of the Quran?

Answer:

Al-Quran is the words of Allah (kalamullah), surely the Quran has its own miracles, wonders and distinct specialties as compared to the words of creations. As an introduction to our answer, we include the following verses of the Quran itself to explain its miracles:

“Alif, Lam, Ra. [This is] a Book whose verses are perfected and then presented in detail from [one who is] Wise and Acquainted”

(Hud: 1)

“Indeed, those who disbelieve in the message after it has come to them... And indeed, it is a mighty Book. Falsehood cannot approach it from before it or from behind it; [it is] a revelation from a [Lord who is] Wise and Praiseworthy.”

(Fussilat: 41-42)

“Indeed, this Qur'an guides to that which is most suitable and gives good tidings to the believers who do righteous deeds that they will have a great reward.”

(Al-Isra’: 9)

“And [mention] the Day when We will resurrect among every nation a witness over them from themselves. And We will bring you, [O Muhammad], as a witness over your nation. And We have sent down to you the Book as clarification for all things and as guidance and mercy and good tidings for the Muslims.”

(Al-Nahl: 89)

Dr. Yusuf al-Qaradhawi in his book entitled, Kaifa Nata’amal Ma’a al-Quran al-‘Azim? Stated seven specialties of the Quran:

  • The Quran is the book of God
  • The Quran is a preserved book (mahfuz)
  • The Quran is the book of miracles
  • The Quran is the book of explanation and simplification
  • The Quran is the book of religion as a whole
  • The Quran is the book of historical records as a whole
  • The Quran is the book of humanity as a whole

Hereby, we quote the opinion of al-Syahid Hassan al-Banna on this matter, where he states : “Al-Quran al-Karim is a complete constitution containing all sorts of Islamic jurisprudence and laws. It is a source of goodness and knowledge for the hearts of the believers. It is also the best tool used by the worshippers in the effort of getting close to Allah by reading it”

In a hadith narrated by Abdullah bin Mas’ud (RA), the Prophet PBUH said:

“Al-Quran is a blessing from Allah SWT. Therefore, take from it as much as you like. Al-Quran is a rope of Allah, a shining light and an effective cure. A guide for those who hold firmly to it. A savior for those who follow it. Those who wander may be guided. Those who are misguided may be led upon it. Its wonders are unstoppable. The sweetness and calmness in reading it may not be affected or lessen although with tremendous amount of repetitions. (So) Read for the sake of Allah, for Allah will reward every letters with ten rewards. I am not saying thatالم is a letter. Indeed, Alif is (equal to) ten (rewards), Lam is (equal to) ten (rewards) and mim is (equal to) ten (rewards)”
